to lights out on Day 1

From above

AIDA is watching.

Six phones on 4.5 m stands beside the track record every lap in 4K. AIDA tracks the cars and helps marshals review incidents.

How the cameras cover the track

Drive it yourself, or teach it to drive.

Teams race 1:10-scale cars on a purpose-built circuit. Pick the tier that fits your team.

TIER 01

COCKPIT

كوكبيت · القيادة اليدوية
  • A human driver races the car by radio control.
  • Build and tune your own car, then find the fastest line.
  • One qualifying run against the clock, then head-to-head knockout rounds.
TIER 02

AUTONOMA

أوتونوما · القيادة الذاتية
  • No driver, and no car to build. Teams compete with software on a car provided by the organisers.
  • Develop it in the simulator we provide. On track, your software maps the layout, then drives the timed laps.
  • A moving obstacle tests how the car reacts.

The track

Eight layouts. One backbone.

White air ducts mark both edges of the track. The start straight, the timing gates and the obstacle line never move: only the ducts behind them change, so every round races a new lap. The eight race layouts go to registered teams; the map here is a demo lap.

  • Air ducts
  • Driving line
  • Speed trap
  • Moving obstacle
  • Cones

The AUTONOMA car

Same car. Your code.

AUTONOMA teams build no car. Every team's software drives the same car, built by the organisers, one team at a time. Teams develop in a simulator first.

  • Scale1:10, rear-wheel drive, one brushless motor
  • Sensing2D LiDAR, IMU, wheel-speed odometry
  • ComputerOnboard, running ROS 2
  • SafetyHardware kill switch and the organiser's remote E-stop

The design isn't finished. The specification published with the simulator is the one that counts.

  1. 01

    Register

    1 Nov – 31 Dec 2026

Form a team and pick a tier.

  2. 02

    JAGP Academy

    1–14 Dec 2026

Two weeks, every day: embedded systems, electrical systems and vehicle dynamics, then COCKPIT racing or ROS 2 autonomy. Lectures online, labs in person.

    See the courses

  3. 03

    Build

    Dec 2026 – Mar 2027

COCKPIT teams use the semester break to build, test and tune their cars. AUTONOMA teams develop their software in the simulator. Practice sessions on the organisers' car will be announced.

  4. 04

    Race

    16–17 March 2027

Two days at JUST (Techno): qualifying, then the knockout and the finals.

Race week

Two days. Two tiers. One champion each.

Tue 16 Mar 2027

Qualifying

Scrutineering, then one timed run per team in both tiers. COCKPIT drivers set a lap against the clock; on each AUTONOMA turn the car maps the layout, then drives its timed laps.

Wed 17 Mar 2027

Knockout, finals + awards

Both tiers race from the round of 32 to the final, with the finals in the afternoon, then the awards ceremony.

Enter a team

Open to anyone.

  • Students, graduates and professionalsFrom any university or company. JUST students are welcome.
  • Your car or oursCOCKPIT teams buy and build their own car. AUTONOMA teams don't bring one: the organisers provide the car and a simulator.
  • 2–5 people per teamOne captain and one tier per team.
  • RegistrationOpen from 1 November until 31 December 2026. Register your team.

Questions.

Who can enter?

Anyone: students from any university, graduates and professionals. Mixed teams are welcome, and so are JUST students.

Do we need a car already?

COCKPIT: no, but you will need one by race week. Teams buy their own vehicle and parts, and the Academy shows you what to get and how to build it. AUTONOMA: you don't need a car at all. The organisers provide it, with a simulator to develop your software on.

We have no racing or robotics experience. Can we still enter?

Yes. The JAGP Academy runs for two weeks, 1–14 December 2026, and covers what you need for your tier. See the courses.

How much does it cost?

60 JOD per team, 50 JOD if some members are IEEE RAS members, and 40 JOD if all of them are. COCKPIT teams also pay for their own car and parts. AUTONOMA teams don't buy a car, but a team whose software damages the organisers' car pays for the repair.

Are there prizes?

Yes, in each tier. Details will be announced with the sponsors.

Can we bring children?

Yes. Children under 12 are welcome, and they get in free.

Where exactly is it?

Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST, "Techno"). The hall will be confirmed here.
